Glittering Sunrise Across A Muskoka Lake
What better place to capture a Canadian sunrise than Canoe Lake, Muskoka? I shot this in September 2005, after setting out for the town of Huntsville at about 3.30 in the morning.
I did the long drive simply because I wanted to shoot sunrise at Algonquin Provincial Park, which comprises more than 76,000 hectares of forests, lakes, and rivers.
Muskoka inspired me in many ways. Not least because it features prominently in my next novel, to be released shortly by Penguin.
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. This was shot on film, using a Canon EOS 3000.

Gorgeous shot David.

Helene Henderson
Fantastic, David! Love the way the sun looks especially in relation to the moon. Perfect.
David McMahon replied
Thanks, Helen. Funny you should mention that – it’s actually lens flare, not the moon, but you’ve just reminded me to dig out an unusual shot that combines moon and sun! Watch this space ….
