Pineapple Harvest

Pineapple Harvest

This shot was taken with a Pentax K100D at F8, 1/350 sec, ISO 200 and focal length 70mm. I do not crop or post-edit my work in any way. What you see is what I shoot.

This is actually a the glass facade of an office building on the corner of Sturt Street and Kings Way in South Melbourne. The building has been there for years, but these huge metal decorative arches were suddenly added in December 2007.

They instantly reminded me of giant pineapples, just waiting to be picked!

This was one of about eight frames, but I chose this because you can acutally see a segment of Melbourne’s skyline reflected in the glass exterior.

Pineapple Harvest belongs to the following groups:

Thank you, Rita. I had to do a double-take (like a cartoon character) when I saw them! It completely took me by surprise!

That is a great landmark, those pineapples don’t need much watering

Thanks very much, Ian. Yes, they’re very conducive to our severe water restrictions!

  • David McMahon replied

Thanks, Rita. I’m sure the artwork has an official name but to me they’ll always be giant pineapples!
