The power of attraction

One of the laws of nature I find I can always rely on, and even use to my benefit, is the law of attraction: Like simply attracts like, such as misery loving company, frustration leading to more frustration, and on the brighter side laughter and joy being contagious. Perhaps the most important application of this law is appreciation because focusing on those aspects of any situation that I find pleasing attracts more pleasing aspects for me to appreciate. So by seeking out the positive i attract more of what I want and use the law of attraction to make my world a better place … And that’s beautiful!

Abstract macro photography of impermanent designs created with oil and water
Olympus E-3, Sigma 105mm macro, f/5.6 @ 1/250, ISO 100, Flash

The color in this piece was created with strands of straw placed below the container, some their natural tones and others dyed red, blue or green. I created the metallic sheen by placing a defused and dimmed flash at an angle below the surface level of the oil & water mixture.

My focus as a photographer and digital artist ranges from traditional photography to PhotoArt compilation and the less explored world of abstract design created with natural elements such as smoke, oil and water.

Wonderful Richard! You are certainly having fun with the oil and water! And such a great title and of course you are right about seeking out the positive.

  • Oh, yes this is a delightful medium to work with, as you know, and I do enjoy participating in the designs – I can’t take all the credit as the elements seem to have a mind of their own. Thank you so much for your great comments :-)

this is so beautiful Richard, love this series ~ a sense of float, other worldly sense and love how it lifts the lid and gives flight to appreciate the beauty and imagination…as for the power of attraction, I do agree and find it’s the focus or refocusing for me, that act of creation, draws in more of the same…however we get there, it comes to love…enjoy the joy & a treat to visit you today xxx

  • I’m always thrilled to read your comments on my artwork Linda. Thank you so much for dropping by and leaving such wonderful comments. I agree with you about the otherworldliness. It’s always an adventure to dive into this micro-world and enjoy the drama taking place – of course, it’s fun to stir things up too :-)
