A turtle with a job: This cast aluminum turtle is one of several spouts charged with keeping water flowing in the fountain at the center of Real del Monte.

An ancient mining village “El Real” has long suffered from frequent, nearly perpetual, drought on the surface despite an abundance of water underground – a fact which often prevented operating the mines and forced miners to work half-submerged in water.

Real del Monte, Hidalgo Mexico; Olympus E-3, 54mm, 1/25, f/18, ISO 400

My focus as a photographer and digital artist ranges from traditional photography to PhotoArt compilation and the less explored world of abstract design created with natural elements such as smoke, oil and water.

A cutie statue like this is a beautiful way to celebrate what little water they do have! Great shot Richard! ;o)

  • Thank you Krys. I’ve noticed that more people are drawn to this little park when the fountain is running than when it’s turned off. It seems to create an attractive energy, at least in this little village.
