The 4th avenue tunnel in downtown Tucson is lined with snapshot tile murals of local Tucsonians.

A street musician leaning on the tunnel wall and residual smoke from tobacco and passing cars generate a nice rendition of 4th Ave’s unique bohemian atmosphere.

    Ambushing territory..
    the faces´windows peopled
    I have lost my echoes.
Rosa (the underpasses give me chills…but this nice poster is unique and such a good idea…humanizing…..those little drops of life there, with eyes doubled. Warming the souls. Great photo, Richard. Unique)

  • I think one could spend hours looking at all the “Faces’ windowed” in these murals. I also share your feelings that underpasses like this are a little creepy. In fact, all of 4th avenue is a little creepy for me in that sense. Even in the light of day I found myself looking over my shoulder quite a bit.

The last line of your poem lingers with me, “I have lost my echoes”. It fits so well with the wall of photographs. People and pets memorialized on a wall … along a gutter.

Mil gracias Rosa por tu atención y tus comentarios :-)

great photo and this scene holds so many feelings for me. it has a real urban quality… all the people, the empty tunnel that isn’t really empty as I look harder. life’s drama going on at a distance contrasting with the close up shots of individuals. great capture

  • Yes, I agree, sort of nitty-gritty urban. The tunnel’s a little dark, (Hard to see what’s inside) but lightening it meant losing the spotlight effect on the musician. I really appreciate you comments John. Thank you :-)
