Ruins of the adobe convent on the grounds of the Tumacacori Mission are shadowed by the church bell tower looming above.

The trees in the background are the remains of an old orchard run by the monks.

Love your work with the shadows again Richard…the bell in the structure before it is just awesome. Great shot overall! Cheers, s.

  • Thank you Sandra. I was very happy to get these late afternoon shots with such long, deep shadows.

I have seen Missiones ruins in Argentina , and other rests of jesuits monastery in Paraguay and they are always done in red bricks. And the land there is not of the same consistence as in Arizona. Good question. I am going to make a research :))…..
    Very nice photo.

  • Mil gracias Anisja! I enjoy visiting these old churches and missions. They are full of fascinating artwork from the tiniest details to the most elaborate paintings and sculptures.

I love the soft light on the wall. It takes on a human quality. gorgeous lighting and beautiful composition.

  • Thank you John; and I agree with you about the human quality. These structures seem very warm to me and exude a human sort of comforting – hard to describe.
