Red Tuna by Richard G Witham

Red Tuna by

The tuna is a juicy cactus fruit eaten as a refreshing snack in Mexico by humans, birds and insects. I have also had it in the form of cactusade, like lemonade but made with tunas.
They grow on the Nopal cactus and can occur in red and green. (I like the red ones better).

Taken in the Sonora desert near Hermosillo, Sonora Mexico.

    me hace sonreir.
    Oye….. ¿es dulce?… ¿ácido?…. o ¿mitad y mitad?
    Precioso.
    Rosa

I did not know that about this cactus……wonderful close up. Always so nice to learn something new.

  • Thanks Elizabeth for all your wonderful comments.
I’d send you a glass of Tuna Juice to try if I thought it would make it, but I guess you’ll just have to wait until your travels bring you down Mexico way :)
