ICE Makes a great wall set with The Last Step

FEATURED on the RB Home page March 21, 2011 along with 7 other beautiful photographs from the “Pictures with the WOW factor” group.

Ice along the ridge path on Whiteface Mountain near Cashiers, North Carolina, USA.

Whiteface mountain is part of the Nantahala National Forest, (USDA National Forest Service).

For more information on the Nantahala NF follow this Link

P.S. Nantahala means Land of Noon Sun, presumably because the area’s deep valleys are only filled by sunlight for a few minutes during mid day.

Olympus E-3, Zuiko 14-54 mm f/2.8-3.5 Tf; 1/40 sec, f/11, ISO 100

Ice is one of the most popular photographs in my gallery and has been featured in many RB groups including Southern Style a down-home perspective , Olympus and 4/3rds Group , Rural Around the Globe , Style Class Elegance Excellence , Artistic, Creative and Very Talented , The Best of RedBubble and #1 Artists of Red Bubble

Simply awesome! Wonderful perspective and details!!! Love it!

  • Thank you so much Krys. I tried a lot of different perspectives, but this one best captured the fantasy-land aspect of the scene. It really was spellbinding. The tallest of the icicles is over 3 mt.

This almost looks too good to be real, and I mean that in the nicest way.

  • Thanks Imber; I admit, I felt a sense of awe walking through so much beauty. It really is a winter wonderland.
