I took this photo on the banks of the Tallulah River in Rabon County, GA.

The ironweed is a native wild flower that grows from 5 to 9 feet tall and has dozens of these small vibrant purple blooms. Each bloom is a little over 1/2" (about 16 mm) in diameter.

    What a vibrantly coloured little flower! Gorgeous macro work! I bet it is much smaller than it appears here.
