Paper Heart discusses unconditional love. We often hear this term in regard to one’s love for another, but my focus is on a more selfish love. Love as the essence of joy. I’m talking about love for life, love for self and love for being. Sometimes I find myself and others loving with a paper heart. We love our bodies when they are the right shape and in good condition, we love our world when the skies are blue and the apples are crunchy and we love being when the being be good. Then our love, (And joy) depends on the conditions, and conditions are often beyond our control.
This artwork is derived from photographs of textures I find in industry. I process the photos with digital brushes and filters keeping true to the original colors and to the shapes I find scratched into the surface of floors, walls, beams and machinery.
