The original photo was taken in Glacier National Park, a photo of a slab of sedimentary rock that was once the bottom of a shallow seabed about 1 billion years ago. At that time the only life on Earth was algae.

Really nice capture! Lovely enhancement! I bet it was real dull without the enhancement to liven up with the shine & colors, wasn’t it? Just wondering.

Hi Leilani, yes, it was duller than what you see here. but, on the other hand, how often do you go to a museum and everything is hands off or behind glass. This chunk of flat rock is a true fossil. Actually, it is more than that. It IS the seabed that became cracked and split during a dry spell, only to be covered up later with more preserving layers of sediment. This is the ACTUAL seabed from a billion years ago. And, it sits by the side of a walking trail where you can rub it, lay on it, even kiss it if you want to. Really amazing. So, duller is really only in the eyes of the beholder. Enjoy!
