This is another in an ongoing series of autonomic drawings in pen and ink, which was then transferred by laser printer to watercolor paper, watercolored (on 90 lb cold press acid-free paper), with a final retouch with an archival ink ball point pen to bring out some of the original drawn lines and keep highlights running into the shadow areas where detail is often lost.

The original is for sale for $298 US plus shipping. Contact Dave Martsolf through Bubblemail or at davidmartsolf@comcast.net for details.

The titles for these works always arrive after the drawing has been completed. In this work I could feel the contained force flowing through the pen during the drawing process. It was not like running, but more like a power walk where all physical systems are elevated, but with more power reserved for brisk punches, hops – a sense like a boxer who is hopping around the ring but hasn’t thrown a punch yet. It is these feelings that the drawing was drawing upon during its creation, and I had a sense at the end that that energy was somehow depicted in the drawing itself.

“Full Force” was featured in Fantastic Primitive Art in August 2009.

Fantastic and very unique series that offers fuel for the mind, spirit and soul.
I love your otherworldly imagery and the interesting process you use
to produce these exceptional paintings. Your narrative that includes personal
comments enhances the total artistic package. I look forward to viewing more
    of your wonderful art work.

  • Wow! You are so kind. I was thinking of a few new works on my way to pick up my daughter at Girl Scout camp this morning. All I need is time, lots and lots of time. It’s a race sometimes. Glad you are having fun with my work. Best, -Dave

  • Hi Webby, What an amazing honor to be featured in Fantastic Primitive Art. Sorry for the delay in replying. Our family just returned from our summer vacation adventure in Glacier National Park, fulfilling a life-long dream of mine. No TV, no cell phone, no newspapers, no Internet – just wilderness and meeting other folks who were all just so happy to be peaceful and awe-struck in this great place.

    Thanks again,

    Dave
