Conflicts of Interest - a poem by Dave Martsolf

Conflict of Interest

patience exceeding the lost madness,
fighting the reign – angry insanity.
vying for control, a dichotomy.

losing to the end – ancient battles,
evolutionary inevitability,
the loss of knowledge,
the death of understanding is at hand.
we are glad to see it go,
waving goodbye with red-clotted sticks
and true love.

This is really deep. Is this abut senility?

  • Dave Martsolf:

No,Debbie. Sorry, it is not about senility. It is about the conflict of holding back your emotions like a diplomat taking the high road, and submitting to your passions like a lover or someone who believes in religions or political systems so strongly it takes over their life and they can see nothing else. There is a beauty to that kind of ignorance, like freedom in the garden of Eden. But, if do not want to be a slave to it, you have to leave it. That is the conflict.

Oh. Interesting. I think that it is not necessarily a slavery situation as a reasoned, considered decision. We also do political differences either blindly and chaotically, or in a reasoned, self-aware manner. Now this might start your engines…. lol! Lucid communication, eh?

  • Dave Martsolf:

    Sometimes I’m just so . . .confused :-)
