This is a hemlock, pine, fir forest in the montane zone of GNP, and very damp this year for the Eastern side of the park.
Imaged with a Nikon P80 in August 2009.
Voted in the Top Ten of a Montana Challenge in October 2009.

Thanks J.K. Yes, it was very rich with earthy and plant smells, not so much pine scents though.

As happens some times, I tweak the dials on color saturation and contrast to get the image that my eye remembers when I walked there. I think the human eye is so much more than any camera because, like HDR processing, the eye can and does build scenes from multiple images inside our head. This is how I remember this walk.
