Windows of Allegory - oil on canvas - 48" x 32"

As an artist, I feel this is my best work. It is a self-portrait that leads off into the future, painted years ago in what I would now call my dark period.

My life has changed a lot since then, and I have overcome many of the dark fears and subconscious memories, many of which are still hidden from my waking life.

There is a lot of symbolism here. And, enough so that for once I will just shut my mouth and let you read it as you see it. I still enjoy seeing its design, attention to detail, and even if dark, it’s clear light. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Thanks, Dave.

The “Ages of Man”.... would I title it!.
From the drakness.. from the terrible and vast darkness.. a window has been opened. And While the other ages of the “man” have their own realm in life-earth… the last one… the unique, the definitive realization is there… in a window… or better is is a window, as the soul is Universes’ window.. Tao’s windows…...seemingly…. we are a dosified items of Giant Energy…. as the electtic light must be “dosified· for getting into our wires and lighting bulbs… if not…. all our electricity system and home would burst out… in fact we almost loose all our “home-machines”....including computers… due to a sudden “high” of the power.
In hat window.. I can see the figure of the loved “Hermit” of the Tarot’s card. He is the representation of the crisis you know, but he can get out of it… for he is carrying a red lantern and have the possibility of going back and rear wards with his being…. so time stops and then, he can pass thourgh matter… whatever the dimmest light he may carry within.
    Rosa (t is grandiose… Dave..)

Rosa, I think I completely missed your comment of a week ago. I am glad you are enjoying my little walks on the dark side. Soon I will get back to work (I keep telling myself).

Superb painting. I can get so much out of it everytime I review it. There is just so much there. Excellent work.

  • Dave Martsolf replied

Thanks JR, I painted it 30 years ago and so much has changed. The sky is blue now,not black, and that’s a good thing.
