In a fit of excitement I dragged myself out of a warm bed before the sun and ventured towards the lake to try out my new canon 100 – 400 zoom. It was about zero so it was no mean feat (for me at least). The mist I had anticipated was not there, there were no clouds to ‘make’ the sunrise and a brisk wind put paid to any reflections.
After taking a few obligatory snaps I gave up and put on my macro. I guess good luck is a matter of persistence. Maybe next weekend…

You are right there Joe, one has to be flexible and I did manage to get a nice macro of some winter blossoms. I’ve since messed around with Photoshop and managed to salvage something reasonably from one of the rowing shots as well.
I guess sometimes we make our own luck.
