Nobbys Head is a Newcastle icon. It was once an island linked to the shore by Macquarie Pier. You can wander along the southern breakwater and take in the views of the harbour entry, Nobbys Beach and the Newcastle skyline. Early in 2012 I discovered that the lighthouse keepers cottage etc was open to the public two Sundays per month or something similar. Check with local tourist information to confirm.
