OMG! (Oh my god!) This is the best image I have EVER seen – and I’ve probably viewed millions by now!! Breathtaking! Great find and nicely composed! Wouldn’t it be great to go on board with your camera? Wish I could come with you on that outting! LOVE THIS!

  • I’m glad you like it. I also went out at sunrise one morning to try and get the morning glow but as the sun came up it was overcast and the colours weren’t there. I hope to get hold of a kayak one day and take some shots of this and the other wrecks from different angles.

Obviously this caught my attention because of the trees growing out of a rusty boat. What a great capture!

  • Thanks. I only found out about the wrecks last year after having lived in Sydney’s west since 1998. I was surprised that these were just down the road and in the middle of Sydney Olympic Park. It makes you wonder what else is out and about; things like old power stations, derelict industrial sites, etc.

I’ll have to check this out one day. It looks interesting. Nice shot.

  • It’s great. If you look on the satellite view of Google maps for SS Ayrfield you will see the wrecks plus this site has the history of them.

  • Thanks. I was hoping to attempt another sunrise shot later this week but it’s not looking good for sun. I might have to wait a bit longer.
