Artist's Description

This is a view from the 3rd baseline of an old baseball field in New Bedford Illinois. From what my parents tell me they used to play baseball there and had graduation cerimonies, dance events and other such things in the fieldhouse in the background. They went to school in Manlius Ill a few miles SE of New Bedford.(Late 60’s early 70’s) I’m not sure when the baseball field or the fieldhouse closed but it has been quite some time. As you can see the dugout is caved in (and actually dug out of the ground) and there are trees weaving in and out of the rusting fence.
Just rememberd that my dad told me that this was the 1st field that he played baseball under the lights at, also there were 2 really big softball tournaments held here as well. ill have to talk to him again to get more info about that event.

EDIT: so i just talked to one of my cousins that went to Manlius HS (before the new HS was built and consolidated) and apparently her class was last year to play basketball in the fieldhouse, which would have been in the late 90s. So it has been out of use for at least a decade. (though it does look like someone owns it and may use it for storage, either way it is in shambles and has seen better days lol)
