I am told that this lonely tree divided farmland into two fields. One used to grow oats and the other barley. The crops were converted to rapeseed and chemically fertilized too much to sustain anything for now. It stands in death to remind all who look at it that we are making mistakes and serious correction is not open any longer to options.
