I was about to go to the airport, to welcome the troops home from Iraq! I was thinking about what they do, and know they give up what we sometimes take for granted! I was just wanting to express myself! I have never servered, but I have helped for a short time after hurricane Ivan hit! The military was there, and they protected home too! We were not able to enter Florida, but helped build new fences in Alabama! Not anything major, unless your dogs are in your house! Things you dont think much of until there gone! Sleeping in a tent, for a little over a month, really was not that bad, when you see people who lost everything they owned! I am blessed to have my freedom, to go help others in need, or to create work that might mean something to others! I am not being shot at, not really worried if I will make it home, if I will see my wife, or my kids again! I was the one there in the crowd yelling, I Love You, Man! Which had gotten dirt in his eye! Maybe that meant more to them, than the image I created! Expression, comes in many forms, and I enjoy all that are positive! I cant say color did not influence me, but fitting the text on the pencils did! I was really rotating the image, so not to have all the text line up! I really gave more thought about placement of words, I had placed deffend, protect, and serve all the same angle! But I had placed troops to be surrounded by deffend, protect, love! I put Big D between D/FW and Texas, because thats where I feel at home! I then topped with freedom passion beleive faith inspire, which connected back to love, but also surrounded peace! RedBubble connected world, USA, Texas, D/FW to Big D! Just in case, you wanted to know!

Darell, while I was reading the description of this picture, I thought that we are all artists when we are born. Art is a natural need of most humans. That is why it gives us so much joy. It is a pity that most of us forget this art while we grow up.
