This year, 2009, marks the 251st birthday of Sambro Lighthouse in Sambro, NS Canada. This lighthouse is the oldest working lighthouse in North America.

My Husband and I went on a tour of Sambro Island on the 250th anniversary. The atmosphere on the island is quite something, there is a certain feeling in the air that is hard to describe…

When I captured this shot we were actually on a boat steaming away from the island. It always pays to look back one more time!

    Thanks so much Von! This lighthouse is in my hometown and so it means a lot to me too. They are having a town festival the last of August and honoured me by asking to use this image on the canvas bags they are selling for fundraising. :)
