violation

above the ruined
wall
the moon rises
casually, but
with discernment:
the sort of moon you
want to peel like
fruit
until you realise it is
already
pitiless and raw.
its growing light slowly
reveals a
body,
bleeding yet still.
a small blade
sticks out of her
stomach like a tongue,
an insult to all
propriety.
her underwear, around her
ankles,
flutters
in the
breeze; her pushed-up
skirt reveals her
scratched and bruised thighs,
sad evidence of gang-
rape.
a silent mist seeps slowly
out of this grim
scene,
creeping over the
wall and permeating the
alleyway beyond;
it is a
windswept place,
the cold air biting with iron
jaws.
the body, motionless still,
is troubled not at all by
this;
but, somewhere inside,
a young girl grins
at the thought of the
revenge which shall
surely be
hers.
