to an unknown god

your sophistry deceives
only fools
who crave
a reason for murder.

would come at us with knives;
he was wrong. instead
we come at our babies
with scalpels.

somewhere
in the desert sands
the voices of our children
cry out
for Justice.
for they ARE
Our Children,
the offspring of humanity.

somewhere
in the Darkness
an altar stands
dripping blood from
tiny arteries.

let us pray
to whatever God we serve

that we
shall remain
guiltless
of their
innocent lives.
