Bless me Father, for I have sinned.

It has been estimated that there are literally thousands of Priests still abusing children, despite the claim that the practice has been “dealt with”. This poem is not an attack on the Roman Catholic Church, as abuse is probably widespread in most, if not all, professions involving children and vulnerable adults.

I live
in a crepuscular world
of hot sweaty hands

clerical panting

death of the land
of my childhood

lost in a cellar
of lonely dark

no-one will help
cos nobody
to see
what is happening

who can I tell
what he’s doing to me
when the shepherds
to lie through their teeth
even to death

he says if I tell
I’ll go straight to hell

This is very powerful Hilary. I favorited this too. This is the type of writing I like to read. I never saw this in your catalogue before, they changed the Rb format. At first it peeved me, and I was dissatisfied like everyone else. But, now that the writings of the different writers on RB are not in any particular order I found these two gems. TO JESUS BE ALL GLORY!!! God bless Hilary. your friend, In-Christ matty

  • Thanks, Matty; glad you like it.
