Acceptance
During the dark of night life forces people to become completely honest with themselves. It is also a stage in which life strips people of all thoughts about themselves created by the society they live in.
No red carpet today, but a backdoor in an alley and even the backdoor is closed. Will we experience the light? Not yet. We are still in a stage of darkness and we have to fight for the light. We have to fight for acceptance in our art. Does the closed door represent the need for acceptance, the ripped shirt nothing to hide. Be courageous and honest about your art.
thank you to twinkletwinkle for being the eye behind the lens

Bravo DH! And kudos to Twinkle for her clicky work!
Without this playing with fantasy no creative work has ever yet come to birth. The debt we owe to the play of imagination is incalculable. Carl Jung

Hey DH. You know how I feel about this work…it’s so beautiful and ethereal. The watery softness of the light is perfect, and I love the two bins – they’re so clean! And the position of your body leaves so much to interpretation – are you listening to what’s on the other side and wanting to be a part of it, or are you readying yourself to push away from the door altogether and explore what’s around you? It’s wonderful!
Bevsimages
Great image & creative set / background…To me looks like he / you have stood up on the shelf step to have a peek through a door….Love the dark murkyness x ;))

So theatrical and dramatic – looks like it could be a movie still that would have the fans lining up to see what’s beyond the door (and, of course, a bit more of that body…) Wow!
DarkHotel2 replied
too kind Jan, but I’ll take your compliment…. thank you – it was so freezing and enjoyable at the same time… appreciate you stopping by the Hotel..

The dark overtones in this are spectacular… seriously, your work should be on really huge canvases in a gallery (if they are not already!)
DarkHotel2 replied
hey – would so love that… no, i’m not quite there, so glad you appreciate the mood of this shot… loved posing for it, but doing the post production was so enjoyable controlling the light and flavour as intended… thanks for your kind words!

I came back because something was ringing bells with a theatrical concept I have just uploaded. Now, when I see this, I can indeed see that something not meant to be seen, which made the bells ring and brought me back.
DarkHotel2 replied
thank you so much for coming back… glad this image works for you! The cold was worth it then!

I love the way the light falls here – emphasising the muscle sculpture of your butt and legs…...which are delightful :)
Also love the angle on the alley and those steps leading down to the nether regions of the building – really adds to the atmosphere
Judith Oppenhe...
(a) this is beautiful (b) you leave so much to the imagination as to what/who is outside of the frame

The very most a man could hope for would be to grow and inspire and lead others, on his way INTO the light. This IS what you have done, and I am along for the ride. YOu are a credit to your gender – a magnificent male, nude form. GLORIOUS, dark, yet filled with the hope of light, and, indeed, lightness.
Rebecca MacNau...
My own work is made more courageous and honest in the face of work like this. You force me. You inspire great work, don’t you? This is a very good, good thing.
DarkHotel2 replied
love your words here Rebecca… thank you!

Like a scene out of a movie – I love it!
Stzar
this is a Masterpiece
my eyes are first drawn to your beautiful body which exudes masculinity, there is so much symbolism in this portrait.
the elevated step you are standing on symbolizes your rise against the closed door.
there is more to the ripped shirt than ”...nothing to hide” the ripped shirt is an aggressive stripping away of mainstream acceptance and represents courage and strength
the ethereal beauty of the colours and environment is almost surreal and has a dream-like quality. the wall seems massive and yet you have the power to push through it
i agree with you completely in your commentary. i love this splendid work of art, and i have favourited it.
DarkHotel2 replied
Your words are incredible here… this is exactly what this image is all about… and being the first image to inrtoduce DarkHotel it is also very siginificant…
Thank you SO MUCH for your insight and interpretation… I feel overwhelmed that this image spoke to you.. many thanks Karon.. love what you have written SO MUCH!

I love your work !!
I, Karon Melillo d’Vega, “Stzar”, will always remember that night, when i first saw your image, and posted my comment to you, and we, you and i happened to be “talking” with each other at the same time that day, and i gave to you my interpretation of your work, and you exclamed with much joy in personal Bmails and here in your reply to me how i was so right on with my insight and interpretation !!
Thank you !!
Thank you so much Paul ~ i am so happy that what i wrote to you means so much to you darling

Poignant words to a powerful piece… I believe there is also a great freedom to this image, after all what better place than the dark to finally be confronted with the truth and to find the courage to be one’s self… Love the cinematic feel to this shot also, the light is superb and gives it so much raw power… sensational!
Songmistress
You know what? You remind me why I love men. And…thank you so very much!!!
