Raindrops falling to green land
Brown earth below, sometimes sand
Indians gave in to white man
“This land is your land, this land is my land”
Still falling is the rain
Swiftly running down your drain
Deadly chemicals won’t restrain
Their effects on your ignorant brain.
Test this vile on that rat –
If he doesn’t die, try it on the cat
It’s only cosmetics, powder matte
They didn’t die? Package that.
Ivory tusks, ivory rings
Oh, the money, so much it brings
Can buy many more ‘valuable’ things
Off dead elephants, we’ll live like kings.
See the mink, see him run
Away from that tranquelizer gun
Better run faster, or he’ll be done
By the set of the acid sun.
After he’s shot, he’ll get cut
Across the throat, pull out his guts
Slice him straight from throat to butt.
Woman models mink coat, floor-cut.
See the waste sight, sign reads death
Black and yellow, waste in breath
Woman works there, her name’s Beth
Nuclear skin marks freckles of death.
“This land is made for you and me”
But life doesn’t come for free
You pay for it, though you don’t see
The Ugliness that is the fee.
Nature
we harm our planet and its inhabitants in many ways
