Tough Times

Remember when the times were tough
When you didn’t have enough
food to feed your wife and kids
When you thought your life was on the skids

It was your friends, that helped you out
Of that there is so little doubt
True friends, the ones that didn’t ask
About how hard times, had come to pass

The goodness inherent in all mankind
Sneaks up on us as if we were blind
For true friends help with no thought of pay
But if you want, give back another day

So now is the time for us to take stock
To ensure we become our very own rock
And in times when we tend to be blasé
We need to think of needs for future days

So remember, when you put that bit away
For the hard times coming in future days
Remember to put aside some for you to share
For when friends need help you can return their care
