The suns rays beam down,
Clear, cloudless skies span open before me,
The possibilities seem endless.
I stroll along the beach,
The waves crashing against the rocks,
While the seagulls gawk above me.
Squishing the warm sand between my toes,
I breathe in the fresh, salty air;
I am ready.
With the help of two best friends,
I assemble the needed pieces;
The pieces enabling my escape.
Dragging the hull closer to the water,
I attach the mainsail to the mast,
And watch as it flutters,
Oh so majestically in the breeze above me.
Pushing the readied laser,
The sand scraps against her hull,
Finally she touches the water and begins her dance with the waves.
I step into the water to meet it’s icy hold,
Push the boat further and clamour on myself.
Finally, I have been released from the earth,
My time with the sea has just begun.
Wind blowing, gently tugging the sail,
But truly tugging at my heart.
It sends delicious shivers down my spine.
The waves cascade against us,
Waves swell, as if to a silent orchestra,
The wind – its conductor.
I lay down with my face to the bow,
Watching the waves swell up meet the boat.
Letting my mind float away with each new wave;
Here I feel complete.
Peace falls upon us,
As each reflects on life.
No conversation is needed,
As no words can describe this moment.
Peace falls to the swell of the wave,
This salty blue shall be my grave.
Surrounded by the endless sea,
I am, finally, free.
