Bryce amphitheater after a spring snow. I thought the morning was going be a bust after arriving in Bryce before sunrise in a blowing snow. Jumped into the lodge to sulk over breakfast only to watch the sky lighten up. Jumped out to the rim just in time to photograph the sun breaking through the clouds.
This image violates one of the cardinal rules of photographing hoodoos in the desert Southwest – focus in on a few striking forms and not a panarama. But the snow brought out the hoodoos through the amphitheater and the light was magic – I couldn’t help myself, although it will look lame as a thumbnail.
