She is beautiful and yes, the expression, the lack of color and the background add a mystery to the photo. I want to know what she is doing there and why she is afraid to look at the camera. Great composition.

Beautiful portrait !
Dan Perez replied
Thank you. As always, I’m flattered when an artist like yourself finds something I created worthy of comment

I do have my own interpretation of why she is looking away, Joan. I see her as a sex worker in a poor, Latin American area. Her lack of eye contact with the camera portrays the shame she feels in what she needs to do to survive. It’s something you find in many parts of the world, women doing what is against their personal values in order to live.

And thank you again Joan for providing just the right background to add that sense of place and circumstance.

Thank you so much ; I feel flattered as well that you appreciate my art so much.
I think you are a great artist too.
I totally agree with your explanation. There are absolutely to many women who are forced to be a sexworker for the money and get exploited… It hurts to stand still with this still going on in this ” civilized ” world… Lets try to keep on the good work my friend.
Have a nice weekend,
Anna
