A year in Avatars

A retrospective

My first ever avatar. Me at 5 years old, don’t know why I picked it. I think it was the only pic I had of myself on the computer at the time.
The first person to comment on my work was Scott Robinson and I believe if he didn’t and not continue to offer support and encouragement (because I had no idea what I was going to do on this site) I probably wouldn’t be here now.
I have worked with Scott now on collaborations, ask his opinion on all sorts of things and have even used his services professionally for my Company. Scott is a great guy, a great talent and I’m just waiting for him to be discovered as a national treasure.

This collection is from something weird that happened when my profile got possessed by a nasty spirit called Ruin he added heaps of shitty shirts and totally fucked my computer while I was on holidays.
If it wasn’t for our cat Tiddles, He’d still be here.
Cost me an upgrade that bastard.

Honest truth…. with the exception of Ruin , I have only ever been Me on this site.
I have no other identities on Red Bubble. I have other profiles but I don’t hide the fact they are me. So anyone wih conspiracy theories. You’re wrong.


My first personal avatar change. The famous Lucan tee he made using my music manuscript. Genius.


This was not long after I met the infamous Mr Lucan online and he stole my avatar so I stole his.
It would be a game that would be played many times over.

Lucan style again.
There was a nasty incident about this time where a few of us got kicked off Red Bubble.
I’m still here, another doesn’t put his writing here anymore but I’ve seen his work on another site.
One still does guerrilla style attacks every now and again and another has reverted to a Lonely Hearts Club.
I got a lot of support during this time and for people I had never met or even seen a photo of, it was really touching.

Another version that was too shitty to make into a card (no pun intended)


One day sjem, Lucan & I got confused or were trying to piss each other off (I can’t remember) and we stole each other identity avatar and artwork.
It resulted in 3 shitty shirts called:elementary mediocrity
To this day that title will get you automatic acceptance into the Agent Provocateur Group


I had a break

Holidays again

Another fave avatar that keeps making return appearances.


This one was weird it was supposed to be Dante’s Inferno – a play on my name. When I had this up I bought a shirt and the package came delivered addressed to Dante Nolan. It was only up for a day.

I was trying to find myself through self expression and avatar use. Hippy bullshit that succeeded only in wasting my own time.


Me at 5 years old again. The ladies love it.


One day Lucan and I hijacked Mr Khan’s identity. At one stage there were 3 Mr Khans commenting on works and posting material.


To celebrate my Brown Dot.


Ruin came back for a visit. Fast furious and he failed again.


This is really me and I only put it in for people who went to the trouble and read this.
I think I was trying to set fire to an elevator while on holidays


This is the avatar for all my RB piss takes. I gave it it’s own profile after mine got too big. It houses what was my most popular writing piece: HOW TO WRITE POETRY ON RED BUBBLE. It had nearly a 1000 views – now it has about 10.


The Monlee (thanks to typo) a tiny bit of his prose ended up in an Empress piece and he also sold a Tee.

Highlights:
ON SITE

meeting and working with some great people
especially on the collaborations.
Writing the Gonzo series. Loved that and working with the subjects.
Selling heaps of Tee Shirts – some to other countries.
Starting *A.R.S.E- what a RB Group should be not a dumping ground for photos and Tees.

Ronnie Purcell and Kate Smith for dragging the writing section up on a pedestal and Ed Redman for making TShirts what they are today- Vital and relevant.

    Danny, your writing is awesome and I’d write more of a response to this except Robyn has just hopped behind me on my chair and shoved her head through the neck hole in my nightie so I guess it’s time we got dressed and met the day!!!! Two bodies in one nightie is very uncomfortable.

    I`ve always been fond of the Skeletal ones myself,.. They remind me of one of my favorite skate-graphics..

    I also remember the first piece of yours I saw, and it still cracks me up, evidence that the phantom struck Diana…. Keep em coming mate!

    you’re special too mr. literary… hey, did you see my story got an honourable mention in the in the stars comp… not bad for a visual artist/poet who only writes stories when the pressure is added… I can say I am a writer too now… like fiction writer… or non-fiction cause a lot of it is true… my fingers are hurting… that’s my typing quota for the morning… must rest them… not rsi… just deep cuts on my fingertips that bleed if I type too long… feel sorry for me…

    Robert. I almost forgot….now I feel guilty….. you were a great help in the early days. Groups and other interests seem to have put us in totally different areas of the Bubble that never seem to cross paths.
    Thank you for being one of the nicest guys on here.
    I remember when you left to go to Geneva and the farewell was massive.
    Now for a bit of truth telling.
    There was a guy who flamed you over it, a nasty piece of work.
    I led the charge that nominated him jerk of the year.
    I think he never came back.
    No one was going to vilify our Robert. :)
