Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas) - Low Island, Queensland by

Green Turtles are a dearly beloved and internationally endangered marine reptile. This iconic species can be seen on Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef with a little local knowledge, and adults lay their eggs on beaches around Australia’s northern coastline. While sightings are frequent in the tropics, it is less commonly known that these animals have been sighted along Australia’s temperate southern coast, including in South Australia’s Spencer Gulf. While snorkelling at Low Island off Port Douglas (where we shot this photograph) we also recorded video for inclusion in our documentary film Cuttlefish Country

Conservation and creativity are our two strongest passions. Our nature photography extends into online video at NatureScope . We’re also currently producing a documentary film called Cuttlefish Country . All purchases of our work will go directly towards the film’s production. The film is due for release in 2013.
