Meadow Argus Butterfly (Junonia villida) - Carrick Hill, South Australia by

I encountered this solitary Meadow Argus in the garden by the Pear Arbor at Carrick Hill Estate in the Adelaide Hills. Quite a territorial character, this butterfly flew aggressively at several passing Monarch and Cabbage White butterflies who strayed across its ‘patch’.

Conservation and creativity are our two strongest passions. Our nature photography extends into online video at NatureScope . We’re also currently producing a documentary film called Cuttlefish Country . All purchases of our work will go directly towards the film’s production. The film is due for release in 2013.

Well done, between sips of wine?

  • Ha, not quite… shot up there to check out the Lost Gardens of Adelaide exhibition. Drawings, photographs, paintings and blueprints or historical Adelaide, ’burbs and gardens since European settlement. Very interesting. The heat was oppressive and there was no wine being served ;)
