Intertwined and Expelled

I was a tree
Arms outstretched and welcoming the world’s embrace
Dancing in the winds of time

Seasons turned
I grew and blossomed
Extending my reach and exploring the heavens

I stood in all my glory
Savouring the rich Earth below
Strong roots holding me firm and straight

In my prime, the winds abruptly changed
For the first time I bent and swayed
The Earth gently released her firm grip on me

Gusts lashed my limbs
Stripping my bark and carrying away my leafy fingertips
Crudely naked

The Earth abondoned me
The wind punished me
And I faltered

I relaxed my hold on the Earth below
Released my grip on my nurturer, my constant companion
And I fell

As my thunderous demise echoed over the hills
I lay patiently, silently
One thought whispering in my final moments

She will have me again
My Mother Earth
We are destined to be together for eternity

I will be reborn to her
