I am a skeleton
Bones wrapped in stifled emotion
Hidden in the depths of a midnight closet

Words do not find me
And embraces do not reach me here
I am lost to the world

I never thought I would find myself here
My light suffocated by the swallowing dark
Pain clinging to my eyelashes in salty droplets

I am a secret
A shameful memory
A forgotten whisper

The weight crushes my quivering shoulders
My heart screams against my ribcage
A silent scream trapped in my throat

There is no escape for me as another holds the key
This is their shame, their secret
This is their closet

Writh and scream or accept and fade?
I will cower in the dark
For I am their skeleton
