Congrats Danika, I didn’t realise you were a fellow RedBubbler… Even better! I think you’ll get more support with the RB community as a lot of people seem to be sour on the Flickr and Canon forums… All the best and you have my vote and support :)

Great shot Danika. I’m glad I voted for it and now I know you are a RedBubbler I’m happy I did :-)

Thanks again guys :) Enrico, I had noticed that some other forums were starting to turn sour on the finalist selection (although this seems to be more focused on the Professional catagory) but every person would have come away with a different selection from the 700 images and the judges are no different. Seeing as its opinion based, and not an exact science, there will always be some disgruntled people unfortunately. All the same, I’m thrilled mine is up there … especially since I only got into this in December last year :)

I actually voted on this before I new you were a RB’er. Definately the best one in the crayon category, and one of my favs overall.

Hahaha Alecia … always nice to know I got some valid votes despite my blantant self-promotion! :) Thank you very much…..

Hey Danika, Yes I know all too well… You’ve probably seen my comments everywhere, I have no problems with some of their frustrations but my biggest gripe is when they start saying things like the ‘actual object was not in the frame’ or ‘photoshop was used’. If people read the rules correctly is says that the object needs to be ‘utilised’ or ‘seen’ in the final image. I doubt that the judges could have picked finalists that everyone would be happy with, it’s so subjective and everyone’s taste varies so much. To some degree I can see why some people wonder how some finalists made the grade but that’s what the judges had to choose from and that is what appealed to them… Competitions are always a tough game and unfortunately not everyone wins. But like you said I too am thrilled and I can say I tried pretty hard (not saying anyone else didn’t) to make sure I had a chance of getting in and I’m just glad it all paid off. So I guess we just have to wait and see now… If those who entered don’t agree with the judges selections, now is the time to have their say. Cheers and good luck :)

BTW my comments were in defense of myself and other finalists. Mine weren’t of the sour variety :)

Now for the long wait till the winners are announce on Tuesday. Good luck to you Enrico :)

Congratulations on your winning entry with this extraordinary image, it is beautiful!
DanikaL replied
Not a winner this year Sharon but there’s always next year :) I’m just thrilled to bits that I made the finals! Besides I’ve only had my camera for a year so I don’t think my faithful 400D was quite ready to make way for bigger and better Canon gear :)

That’s gorgeous! What a wonderful idea
