Artist's Description

This is an original woodcut print with a monoprint under color application. I created this print during the “first” Iraq war when George Bush Sr. attacked Iraq for invading Kuwait. As in the current Iraq war, the American government used bombs and missiles to devastate “strategic” targets while in the process killing thousands of civilians. I, as an American citizen, resisted the blind patriotism that allowed politicians to go forth with war without oversight of the citizens who ultimately make the sacrifices. The myth that Americans are always considered the saviors of democracy and the ethical keepers of fair and honorable engagement is false. War is hell, and as so, it is wrought with evil and is at its root immoral.
