I Am
By Dane Smith-Johnsen
Descartes said, "I think, therefore I am.”
So, can we deduce that?
If we do not think we are not.
Or do we always think?
In consciousness-
In unconsciousness-
In sub-consciousness-
In a submarine-
At a sewing machine
When eating meat that is lean.
Cutting a lawn that is green.
And thinking in between-
Eating a sub sandwich-
Just like a hungry man which
Thought he would eat a sandwich-
Before he felt his leg twitch.
Involuntary motion-
Could cause a life commotion.
If it prevented locomotion
And brought out sad emotion.
Every time a heart beats
And tingles bringing love treats.
When two souls in love meet,
True love must be thinking.
In consciousness-
In unconsciousness-
In sub-consciousness-
And if “we are” because of thinking,
Will we be eternally linking?
Hum! I was just thinking…
Perhaps we should stop shrinking
And away from Heaven sinking
And start to fill our minds
With all goodness that we find
Let us keep our hearts sublime.
For eternity is a long time!
