While on an evening drive around the dike built in 1952 to protect the Provo airport from flooding by Utah Lake, I was blessed to witness the most vibrant sunset I’ve ever, in my 62 years, witnessed. Fortunately, I had my Oly OM-2n loaded with color positive film and was able to capture the incredible beauty of this even. I scanned the resultant slide with an Epson Photo scanner.
I promise – there has been NO post processing. I even resisted the urge to straighten the horizon. What you see is a feeble representation of what my family experienced that magical evening.

Thanks – You need to go back and look again. The picture I originally submitted was just the thumbnail – Duh Me! The new one is the real one.
Fab! Very striking!
Thank you! Wish you could have been there. The photo doesn’t even start to do justice to the evening.
Yep. That’s the stuff that makes you stop whatever you are doing. Its’ impossible to function with the sky that awesome. Good Snap.
Thaks Brett! Not only was it impossible to function, it was almost impossible to breath.

I used to think that my sunset photos were good until i saw this. Absolutely fantastic. Well done!
Thanks Paul! Even a klutz like me couldn’t miss with a sunset like that.
WOW, unbeleivable (I beleive you, I know that SW & Utah (southern,, no?) can do this kind of magic.
Thanks, Dragan. Actually, Utah Lake is about in the middle of the state just west of Provo.
