Horses are my favourite animal, and this one’s a gorgeous creature. I love the way only part of the horse is in the light, and the rest of the shot is all in the dark. Makes the horse stand out that much more.

Very nicely composed! The black background not only enriches the bay horse’s coat, but it also compliments its black forelock, ear trimmings, eye liner and muzzle very nicely!!!! Lovely work! :)

I love it, have same camera , I tried this on flowers and not live objects , did not need PS at all. This looks gorgeous on animals, I need to try it as well. thanks for description. I need to keep my eyes oh you. I almost want to have a group for just our type of camera (d40, d40x, d60) with no PS. I am still learning how to shot with this camera without PS.
