Winter's Light

Winter is a beautiful season of dying
The smell of smoke in the night air flying
Is whispered to bring a harsh death
The cheerless gloom to steal your last breath

To capture all you have eternally known
with the glittering snow, all blown
Stars twinkling in blackened dead skies
Winter brings death, in nature’s dark eyes

The darkness of winter brought light in my soul
I discovered the beauty of fate’s natural goal
Like the first dancing snowflakes in the valley
falling to the ground to meet their bright finale

Winter becomes the beginning of many ends
a start of new for close friends
swiftly transformed up flying high
Snowy owls gliding elegantly in the sky
