Copa Cabana ...

3/20/2011

I helped my sister with a Copa Cabana Party last night, mostly taking photos of the evenings events. I’m looking forward to working with some of the photos and getting them posted … there was an unlimited amount of entertainment decor and color.

My Nikon D90 is a little over a year old and this is one it’s first times tagging along with me on a Party Perfect Event and I must say that I am pleased with the results. As soon as budget allows, I would like to look for a flash that would be well suited for indoor evening shots as well as for the camera, any suggestions?

Where Faire Tales Come Alive and Anything is Possible ...

Each year I eagerly await the Florida Renaissance Festival. For nearly 20 years now this show has run. For 5 consecutive weekends about this time of year, a world of visual delight and fantasy opens up to us and there is a guaranteed photo op waiting at every turn.…

Yesterday I spent the day with David at the Festival and then we ended the day with dinner at Muddy Waters, perfect date in my book. I only loaded to my computer 800 of the 1200 photos I took and would like to narrow it down another couple of hundred if I can.

These photos portray the hard work and dedication of both the talented liberal artists traveling with the show and living their artistic vision, as well as the dedicated locals that wait patiently for the faire to return each year so they too can dress and play their own

Thursday With The Birds ...

I rarely have a Thursday off but today I do … I got up early this morning and decided to take a walk with the birds at Wakodahatchee Wetlands. I was greeted first by the girls … two white with grey peahens they tend to scratch around by the enterance like two little greeters, I’m always glad to see them. The Great Blue Herons were showing off their winter plumes, it was cool this morning and everyone was quite active. I saw large flocks of White Ibis, I’m hoping to have a few in flight photos of that. But … what I was really looking for was the Roseate Spoonbill. I’ve seen a few around Red Bubble this week taken in Wakodahatchee and though they are not real plentiful here, I was hoping to at least see one today.I did … there she was pretty and pink, much to far away for my 200 mm lens but …

Oshogatsu ...

Today is all about me. I do have to get Mandy’s Birthday card in the mail today but other than that … just me and my camera. I will plan to take a walk through the Morikami Japanese Garden, today they celebrate Oshogatsu. David and I went together last year, but today he’s working, so I plan to go by myself.Oshogatsu is a New Year Celebration, I understand that this is the year if the rabbit.

I Have Searched For A Palm Weaver ...

An old Dancing In The Rain post I wrote last year. I placed it here as a test hoping it would motivate me to learn how to insert images here. I’ve been journaling online since 2004 and love telling stories with my photos. I have never had as much trouble figuring out how things work as I have here at Red Bubble. Maybe I just have less time on my hands than I once did.…

100 things #45 I have searched for a Palm Weaver …
I was having dinner with David on Saturday night at City Pizza, we were catching up and making small talk when I mentioned that on Friday I got a text from my sister saying “I need a palm frond weaver next Saturday.”

My initial reaction was to text back saying “good luck with that” but instead I typed “When?”

100 things ..

My Daughter and Grand Daughter are coming for Mothers Day. They live in Atlanta … much to far away. Maelei is seven months old now. This is such a fun age, they are learning something new every day, can’t wait for them to get here.Ever since Mandy moved away from home we have take delight in playing the 100 things game when we have a few days off to spend together. This visit is no exception. we name 100 photographs and then we spend the week trying to capture them. A little like putting the cart before the horse, but we like it.Right now I have a list of about 125 photographs I would like to take, so I have some narrowing down to do. I’ll use a Red Bubble theme for my list this time, some of the challenges I’ve wanted to take part in and did not have time for, or something that will fit…

On my way to help bring my first grandchild into the world ...

My daughter lives in Atlanta her Due date was not until October 26th but her bloodpressure has been high due to a reaction to substances found in the placenta (Pre-eclampsia). Her Doctor admitted her into the hospital this morning for a 24 hour watch and some testing to make sure the baby is developed enough to deliver her now if needed.

That is exactly what they are going to do … they will move her into delivery room anytime now and induce labor, that could take a couple of hours or it could take 24, either way I will be leaving shortly. Do not want to miss her arrival.

Will update when possible and will bring back new photos for sure.

9/23/09

I sold my first greeting card today, it’s the Funky Flamingo Dance. I know it’s only a card but to me it’s exciting. I wonder who bought it? I know it wasn’t my mother, I have been waiting to get my site set up before I send the link ot my family.

There are still so many thingsI need to figure out here like how to post links and photos on my posts.
