Mayan Months by Dana Roper

Mayan Months by

Abstract mixed aquamedia collage using my painted and treated torn papers. Mixed media includes Winsor & Newton transparent watercolor, Pelikan ink, and Liquitex acrylic. Background paper is Arches 300 lb cold press, full sheet, 40×32.

After assembling the collage, it seemed so “archeological” that I decided to add drawings of the ancient symbols for the twelve months in the Mayan alphabet. 9:45pm

About Dana Roper

I am fascinated by the concept of serendipity – the spontaneous discovery of one thing while searching for another. I rarely plan my art. I prefer to LET it happen rather than MAKE it happen.
