This shack has been near my childhood home since I can remember. It falls a little more every year, and recently was supposed to be torn down. But, the residents of the area rallied to get it declared a landmark because it was such a part of the way we recognized home. So I love this little guy.

    Hi.
I like what you did with the gradient tool here. It really gives it some depth.
But I have to say that if I hear the word shack, i usually don,t think of a shed

This looks like such a fantastic place to have grown up. I remember as a kid having a cave near the beach house of my grandparents. This cave was visited daily by my cousins and I and we believed it to be a pirates cave and used to regularly look for the pirate ship to come back. I still love visiting this cave and feel so much of my childhood energy when I am there.

The picture of your shack seems to exude the passion that you would have had as a child I would imagine.

    I love this photo!
    Great clarity and B&W’s.
    The foggy background is awesome.
I love the level of dilapidation (disrepair) of the building.
The soggy field adds to the feel of the photo, almost forlorn.

    Sara,
    This is a great shot!!
We, too, had an old barn that seemed to be held up by god and each year we thought it would fall. And people, also, kept propping it up w/boards. But, one year, it finally surrendered and went to that large farm in the sky. It became fertilizer for the trees that will compose the next bar, lol.
    beautiful

I imagine this image as being taken in the Dawn, it gives my a perspective of this structure surviving to see another Dawn, With the Myst or almost Fog, thought Diminishing, I’m impressed with the thought of a Ghost, perhaps not of the people connected to the structure, but more related to the era and period of History when once the vibrancy of Usefulness, that it was built well to withstand the years of abandonment perhaps it could represent a time of pride in workmanship, and simplicity of life.

You capture more than a shack, what is capture here is dying from cancer. Like a metaphor for the illness. People always read the shot and how good it is, I like to read beyond what you see.
