When She's Gone
Last shot of the day in downtown Chicago. As I was returning home, waiting in the subway for my train, there was a man with the most soulful voice singing for tips. Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone originally by Bill Withers is how I wish I could title this image because that was the last song I heard him sing as my train pulled away.
I also thought it was interesting that behind the woman sits a child’s shoe even though no one else was around.

Well titled, and a great capture… :)

Your treatment creates exactly the mood….goes perfectly with aint no sunshine when she’s gone. The shoe suggests she left the kids too. Love the story of this.
Dana DiPasquale replied
..or maybe she left herself, her old self, her childhood, her innocence, who she thought she was, who she wished she still was? (ooo, I’m getting a little too philosophical!)
lucin
No, no! :) It looks like she is off to meet herself! :) Oh, don’t you love interpretation? Zillions for one take. Your artistic signature for me is a consistent masterful delivery of mood that begs for interpretation. Photography gets no better than that.

Great composition on this image and your treatment is superb

This is a moving image. The treatment really emphasizes the mood that the composition sets. The title really struck my heart as my only daughter left for Europe today for the summer…
You have a real talent for very striking titles.

Striking composition, and seeing. Absolutely amazing as a sneak shot. Your philosophical take is very thoughtful, and seems right on…

Good scene, since one so seldom sees anyone sitting—just sitting. I think the retro treatment looks fine here, although I do like the clean lines of the b/w posted in your forum.

What a unique shot and you created the mood so perfectly with the grey tones for the isolation and the bits of red for her anguish. Dana..you really amaze me with your work.
