Waiting For Trial by damien-c

[This is an authorized portrait]

I started into photography in January 2008.
6 months later I was hitting the streets trying to document the lives of those we stumble upon and avoid everyday.
So I started the Poverty Series.
My aim is to reveal their humanity, to know these people’s story and make us realize they once had a family, a functional life and it takes only a small event to make a person abandon everything and hit the streets.

This was my first street/ photojournalism portrait and has become one of my most iconic photographs.

His name is Fernando. When I asked him what his story was he just said:
I’m just waiting for trial, man”.

Technical info:
Why the imperfect crop? Because I refuse to let go of the cigarette your eyes may find if you look closer.

I think you are so brave as this is something I could not do, I think your project is most interesting as (my husband and I) recently became involved with a homeless man.

    Iconic – yes!
Sometimes a whole life and future can be said so simply … “waiting for trial.”
And any of our lives can be reduced to so little so fast. Great work!

THIS is what i aim to do!
but i live in a country where who holds a camera in a hand is seem like a terrorist or something like that.
anyone is suspicious about me when i’m hangin’ around the streets with my “weapon” turned on.
    magical shot D,magical.
i don’t know how i can say how much i appreciate you for your noble intent.
i’ve always wanted to do the same but PEOPLE can not permit me to.
