Squirming and sliding...
Tadpoles and frogs caught by kids in floodwater. Luckily this was a catch-and-release operation, but kids will be kids…!
Found in the melonholes linked by floodwater on a property north of Goondiwindi.
All of the growth stages are represented, from a tiny tadpole to the partially developed midway stages, right up to the fully formed frog. A bit of a mini cycle of life caught on camera, as well as showing how life directions can be altered by things far beyond your control…

They were breeding better than I’d expected to see Brett, which was great as the mozzies were being looked after better than I’d thought too!
Thanks Kym! There was lots of water for a change, and the kids did love it (despite slips in the muddy water LOL!)
Heheh Kaitlin! They were pretty big, but maybe not gigantic :)

FAIRIEWOMAN1
I like this image, First Nations people used tadpoles as fertilty symbols because they appeared after the desert and high plains rain. Now I always think of them this way, symbolizing spring, abundance after a drought, and life. Nice capture.
Damian replied
Thanks Helena. I didn’t know that about tadpoles and First Nations people, but I can certainly see how the idea works!
a~m .
awww.. Damian this would go great in our current Tadpole Challenge
