Deborah Parkin
great image – we all seem to like the sinister feel at the moment (not the man of course) – stretching our minds over to the dark side – love the lighting on the face against the darkness of the tree – great work!!!
Arthur Chambers
great shot////////////////
Dee Boylan
Great photo…mmm…i would have entitled it “stalker”......;)
transmute
Great shot Damian! You must be enjoying your new camera
Damian
Thanks Deborah, glad you like it! The colour version has a much less sinister feel (as you’d imagine); more of a ‘green man’ thing going on.
Damian
Thanks ARTHURRTY!
Damian
“Stalker”, hmmm, nuh, not quite the ring to it I was thinking of hehe!
Thanks ;)
Lisa Defazio
Is this you again? Me thinks yes, great image. I think it is (yet again!) soft and not at all sinister, lovely capture. A sensitive male portrait. Packs a tonal punch too.
Damian
Cheers Chris, yep, loving the new camera! Starting to get desperate and trying to do something interesting with my back yard LOL! Must need a movie night and red wine :)
Michael Alesich
Great shot, perfect tone.
Damian
Hi Lisa, me again, yep! Glad you like it. I had some concerns over the expression (!!) and whether it’s too soft LOL!
Damian
Thanks Michael!
Catalin Soare
Great portrait Damian
Damian
Thanks Catalin!
Robert Knapman
Always wondered who the masked man was .) Very nice portrait, not too soft, sinister mmmm also no. I’d say…quite observant, wise and oh so watchful even penetrating. Its a beautiful and unusually revealing portrait I think actually, which is simultaneously hidden and quite vulnerable. Hmmm nice one buddy.
Cathie Tranent
Very nice Damian.
StacyLee
Damian, I really like this. The expression on your face, the way you are buried in the leaves, and the tones for the shot make a very powerful image. Well done! Very creative :)
Mugsy
Great image, Damian!
Suzanne German
So now we know what your eyes look like! – Nice shot Damien!
Bridgett Ferguson
amazing portrait….love the sense of mystery to it! :)
Damian
Hi Robert, thanks for your comments, I really appreciate it! Glad you don’t think it’s too soft either, that was very nice of you to say so, and I’m glad you like it :)
Damian
Thanks Cathie!
Damian
Hi Stacy, thanks, I’m glad you like it! Buried in the leaves is right hehe! The poor tree didn’t see that one coming!
Damian
Thanks Mugsy!
Damian
Thanks Suzanne, yep, the eyes are now removed from behind the rose-coloured-glasses!
Damian
Thanks plasmatwin, glad you got a sense of mystery from it :)
Kitsmumma
You look like a little forest nymph…............... or robin hood! Gorgeous face Damian, beautiful shot.
Kitsmumma
oh! and in no way sinister, your eyes look very kind.
mayuphoto
Beautifully focused the subject – I was dragged into this image! Very nice portrait : )
Damian
Hi Sylvia, thanks for that, I’m happy with both of those options. The forest nymph was where I started my thinking from, but Robin Hood is cool, hadn’t thought of that! Glad you like the shot :)
Damian
Thanks mayuphoto, glad you were dragged in, that sounds great!
Katie Young
Damian… is this you? I think you look amazingly HOT! That was the first thing i thought when i saw this image HOT HOT HOT! heheheeh ;)
Damian
Hi Katie – I’m laughing too much to think properly hehe! That’s me yesterday, thanks for the massive ego boost LOL!!
Katie Young
HEhehehheeh, its nice to have ppl tell you your hot every now and then! I must admit i have come back for another peak :) heheeh
Katie Young
P.s More self portraits please heheheh
Damian
Hey glad you like it (and I don’t get told I’m hot anywhere near enough LOL!). You’ve made me feel less concerned about putting up a SP too. In an odd coincidence, redbubble has led me to be involved in a photo challenge, to take a SP every day for a year (don’t panic, they definately won’t all get here). So far I’m on day 5 – yikes!
micmac
Beautiful eyes ,i like the way leaves are surrounding your visage. The first feeling i had was a roman’s statue ,kind of an androgyne personnage,we can’t tell the time or the age ,i love that picture and looks very good in black and white
micmac
You realy have beautiful eyes ,the first thing i felt wasn’t at all sinister but more like a old roman’s feeling ,like an old statue ,I like the dark leaves arround you ,makes kind of androgyne image with no age ,no time, i realy love that picture .Amazing shot and beautiful in black and white
Damian
Hi micmac, thanks for your comments! A roman statue is a great comparison, and I can see what you mean about androgyne. Thank you, glad you liked it :)
cynthiab
like it a lot the dark tree framing the face
Shanina Conway
Hi Damien…well it worked brilliantly…it looks like a scene from A midsummer nights dream;)
Damian
Thanks a lot Cynthia!
Damian
Thanks Shanina, glad you thought so! A Pan/Puck type feel was what I wanted :)
Katie Young
Oh wow! a portrait everyday…. what kind of challenge is this? Look forward to seeing some more pics ;)
Damian
It’s been an interesting challenge so far! This image was for day 4. Here’s where the inspiration, and baton hand-over came from hehe-
Clairearmistead
Catie Atkinson
This is a very nice image… kind of subtly sexy but also really distant – very nice portrait shot.
Damian
Thanks Catie, glad you think so. I like that you said distant as well, which is apt, but probably something to work on too :)
Paul Vanzella
works really well Damian – nice shot!
Damian
Thanks a lot Paul, I appreciate it!
Leia
I didn’t get in quick with the comments and it looks like there is no room left!
That is such a wonderful photo, i like everything about it.
The tone, the way you’re comfortably nestled in the branches/leaves, you look perched, frozen in time almost?
Your expression appears to have been read differently by everyone, personally i see a questioner when i look at those eyes.
I am amazed at how different you look in each portrait – yet your striking eyes can never be mistaken! They really do peirce through the photo. It is difficult to stop looking at the image. This would have to be one of the best self portraits i have ever seen. Love it and can’t wait for more.
Damian
Hi Leia, thanks so much for the compliments! It’s been fun to see the different reactions and interpretations to this one. I’ve been trying not to shatter the illusion with the expression either, as I don’t know if I was conciously trying to aim for a particular look LOL (blue steel)! I’m glad that you like it :)
David Stuart
Very cool Damian, reminds me of the old Roman head dress !!
Damian
Thanks andromada, cool :)

Great work Damian….........I think the expression is very sexy and I have a whole story going on in my head about what this character is doing….............by the way YOu would make a great model…....
xkc
Damian
Thanks Karen, haha – glad you think so! You’ll have to write your story down, that would be a cool role reversal for me :)
As for model, I can honestly say those words have never been directed my way before LOL!
Heather King
this is beautiful, the eyes tell it all
Damian
Thanks Heather, glad you think so :)
Hippo
I get a sense of sadness from this. Like the world has dissappointed you one too many times, and you are now allowing the trees to swallow you up. A shrinking back into nature. Not sinister, but definitely a bit dark.
And yes, a bit of an elvish/wood nymph sense to it too.
Damian
Hi Hippo, thanks, I enjoyed your interpretation a lot :)
A dissappointment and shrinking back into nature sound pretty right at times, and fits here. And elvish is always good :)
minoanphotography
quite captivating- im a huge fan off good portraits.
Damian
Thanks minoanphotography!
Helene Kippert
Great shot Damian – you look like an elf just out of the forest!
Damian
Haha, thanks Helene!

PennyEdwardes
Nice…..those eyes are very peircing! Wonderful work Damien!
Damian
Thanks DarwinsMishap :)
One day I’ll find someone who’s happy to be the body in front of the camera, needing to suffer through while I learn hehe!
Damian
Thanks Penny, glad you like it! Nothing like concentration on the camera to give you that expression LOL!
Catherine Crim...
