“Vengeance is mine saith the Lord, I will repay”

Muddy Water Blues is the first movie from the multi-gifted mind, mouth, and hands of Artist/Actor Dale Crum. The rich message of this movie will stand as a societal challenge for the world now, and to come.

In Muddy Water Blues Dale combines over three decades of amazing artistry, caricatures, and internationally recognized storytelling prowess, together with his lifelong love of humanity and nature. What you get is the first movie of its kind—-ever. This is a PG rated computer animation movie, where reality melds as one with imagination; so well in fact, you might just forget which—is which.
This is the beginning of an entirely new visual experience.

“I created every character in the movie, based on my caricatures of celebrities from the past and the present. All of the creatures in the movie will bear an amazing resemblance to famous folks we all know and love. The story line is as Memphis Blues as it can be. BB King (a catfish) is the main character, and his southern style of wisdom carries the message of the movie. BB along with: Muddy Waters, James Brown, Ray Charles, ”Elvfish Presley”, John Lee Hooker, Billie Holiday, Norah Jones, 50 Cent, Spike Lee, just to name a few of the Catfish—-lead this star studded cast of characters.”

Muddy Water Blues is a story about the horrible price of vengeance, and racial hatred, upon any society—-even in a ‘non-human’ world.
I have chosen to use the creatures of the Mississippi River to tell my tale. It takes place in an old sunken tug boat down at the foot of Historic Beale Street, in Dale’s home town of Memphis Tennessee.

I have created two worlds, the Up Top and the Down Under; these two coexist in the same tug boat. The Up Top Club is above the water and where the frogs, other amphibians and mammals party, love, perform and dance. The Down Under Club is where the underwater creatures hang out, and do their version of the same.
The worlds of river fish and other creatures have their own inherent conflicts, and I have translated these into a human realization; to mirror what Memphis, and the world has experienced. You will feel all that is Memphis, and all that is the Beale Street Blues. The Blues serve as the musical language of this film, by bringing back to life some of the greatest artists who have gone on; and some who are still making there magic. The movie is diamond studded with ‘Juke Joint’ style performances by some of the greatest musical artists of the Blues and Popular music too. *Some of the great historic recordings such as Billie Holiday, will be perfectly matched and animated, even down to the background club noises.

In 1958, I was born in Memphis, Tennessee. I’m Memphis born--and Memphis bred-and when I die—I’ll be Memphis dead! I love my home town and I guess that muddy water is just part of who I am. I come from a long line of Storytellers (BS’ers) of the Irish and Scottish persuasion; and I didn’t stand a chance of coming out of there, without being completely full of it!
I have spent my life crafting, both artworks and stories. This movie is the culmination of all my travels, around the world that have now brought me full circle--right back to that Old Man River.

This is an extraordinary piece, a creative way to integrate the masters of the
blues for those who are no familiar with these brilliant musicians that were
the first to create music that related to the adolescent culture before Elvis
and Bill Haley, white musicians who coined the term, rock & roll. This is an
    amazing piece!
